15 'Weird' Questions Tag
Yes, I know, the title is a little off-putting, but I shall stick with it nonetheless. Hello once again everyone. I recently reached 1000 page-views, which may seem only a small feat for some, but for me, I think it's very exciting. I would just like to thank everyone who has either read or even taken the time to glance at my blog, it really means a lot. To be honest, I wouldn't mind if no-one followed me or commented on the posts, as long as just one person out there reads it and benefits in some way from it. It's just relieving to see that I'm not writing for myself, as if talking to a wall, I suppose. Anyway, thank you once again and it has really encouraged me to continue posting. I shall stop thanking you and continue with the task at hand.
1. What's a nickname only your family calls you?
I suppose it will have to be Chalu. That, I suppose is the only nickname they call me. I don't think my family is too caught up in assigning nicknames for everyone. I understand why you might seem confused at that, because my name is fairly long and it would seem tiresome to repeat it every time, but if one is used to it, it shouldn't make a difference. My grandparents use various terms that mean 'dear' or 'sweetheart' in Singhalese (they are so adorable), but I don't wish to bore you with those. Does anyone else have a special nickname that only their family members use? I am so intrigued to know.
2. What's a weird habit of yours?
Please don't judge me about this comment. The carpet in my room is a cream/off-white colour and my hair is obviously very dark. Now, I don't shed my hair like a cat, but when my hair does fall on to the carpet, it is really very conspicuous. So, I have to go around and pick each individual hair up. No matter what situation I'm in, or how urgent it is, I have to stop and pick up the hair. I think that's a combination of paranoia and some sort of syndrome relating to cleanliness (I shall name it the Monica Geller Syndrome).
3. Do you have any weird phobias?
The only one that comes to mind (which clearly indicates that I have many) is my fear of dead animals. To be more specific, I have no problem with live animals, but I hate to deal with dead animals. Do any of you have any weird phobias?
4. What's a song you secretly love to blast and belt out when you're alone?
I have two choices which I am not ashamed to broadcast. I'm unsure whether this will make any difference to your opinion of me, but I love Pom Poms by the Jonas Brothers and That Power Wil.I.Am featuring, Justin Bieber. Is that a bad thing? I genuinely think those songs have a nice beat and 'catchy' lyrics.
5. What's one of your biggest pet peeves?
That would have to be, when I arrange my room or I keep my items in a certain place and someone has to come along and move or dislodge it. It drives me mad, because prior to that I put so much meticulous thought and effort into where the item should be kept, where it should be kept and for how long. Then someone just comes out of the blue and disrupts the whole order of things. Sadly, it may sound as if I have some sort of OCD, but in reality I haven't been diagnosed with anything.
6. What's one of your nervous habits?
I continuously bite my nails when I am nervous. I suppose that's the ultimate nervous habit, but unfortunately I'm not immune to it. I have been trying so hard these few weeks to grow my nails because I am hopeless at it.
7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
Interesting question, which obviously requires and equally or more interesting answer. I have a single bed, so all sides (I suppose, although I rarely get an opportunity to sleep on the underside, as it's not as comfortable).
8. What was your first stuffed animal and what was its name?
Truthfully I don't remember. But, in order to make it seem like I had a less tragic childhood, I will confess that I had a stuffed/plastic doll. I used to love this doll, despite the fact that it had no hair and I had appropriately named it Baldie. I know, you're all wondering, how is the poor doll going to live with a name like Baldie, but trust me, I think she appreciated the rather too obvious name.
9. What's the drink you always order at Starbucks?
This would undoubtedly have to be the Chocolate or Vanilla Frappuccino. I realise that Starbucks is mainly designed to serve warm drinks like tea, coffee or hot chocolate, but I rarely purchase those types of drinks. Unfortunately, there isn't a Starbucks very close to me, the nearest probably being in Cambridge or Norwich, so I don't visit it very often.
10. What's a beauty rule you preach, but never actually practise?
This is rather difficult since I preach very little about beauty. One that comes to mind would be, when wearing nail varnish, I would recommend to always apply a base coat to protect the nail underneath. But, when I'm in a hurry and I don't wish to leave my nails looking untidy, I tend to miss out this particular step (which I know I shouldn't do). But, I don't wear nail varnish very often or for long periods of time, so I'm hoping it won't damage my nails too much.
11. Which way do you face in the shower?
Well, rather ironically, I tend to face both towards and away from the shower. I don't have any particular 'way' that I like to face in the shower, I just tend to face whichever way I feel like at the time. Unless, of course, I am doing my 'shower-time interpretive dance', in which case I normally face perpendicular to the shower-head, in order to execute the perfect dance moves.
12. Do you have any weird body skills?
Yes, I can contort my thorax in seven different ways (not really). Other than the fact that I can repeatedly click my left thumb... no. I am not gifted in the ways of contortion, in fact, I am about as acrobatic/flexible as a large bar or rod made of a very heavy metal (these similes are just ingenious aren't they?).
13. What's your favourite 'comfort' food that's bad but you love to eat anyway?
This is very easy. It has to be the devilled cashew nuts that my grandparents have bought from Sri Lanka since my very early years. I refuse to accept any other cashew nuts as genuine because they simply cannot compare to the taste and the memories that come flooding back when I eat those cashew nuts. Obviously, they aren't the most nutritious, but at the same time they aren't as unhealthy as condensed milk (which I use to make Caramel puddings, if anyone would like the recipe, please comment).
14. What's a phrase or exclamation you always say?
I'm not very fond of swearing at all, so instead, if the need arises I always say "Oh SNAP!" I'm not sure whether that's a valid answer, but I do like to use that phrase.
15. It's time to sleep, what are you actually wearing?
Pyjamas... What else? I tend to wear more fleece-like thicker pyjamas that have long-sleeved tops during the winter, or I simply settle for a onesie. During the summer, I tend to a wear a t-shirt and shorts. That's probably my night-time wardrobe. I'm not sure what else this question was hinting at, but if that's not the answer you were expecting, my sincere apologies.
So there we have it, another tag. I do apologise for not having posted anything in a while. Thanks so much for reading, be nice to everyone and have a good day.
Adios. xxx
